LITCHFIELD RECREATION COMMITTEE

MINUTES
February 7, 2007

 

Members Present:
Chad Hill, Janet Caskin, Roxy Tuttle, Kathy Hilchey, Vicki Russell, Sharon Karkos and Krisi Ring

Public Present:
Antwan Gildersleeve, Lisa & Jay Nelson, Kenny Clark, Mark Russell and one other member of the public

Welcome:
President, Chad Hill called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.

Agenda Adjustments:
Possible Executive Session

Secretary’s Report:
A motion was made and seconded to accept the secretary’s report as presented.
Vote: Unanimous

Treasurer’s Report:
A motion was made and seconded to accept the treasurer’s report as presented.
Vote: Unanimous

Communications:
A request was received from Dan Kraft to offer the boy’s summer basketball program like last years. The request was approved.

Parks & Recreation Director’s Report:

Baseball: Registrations will begin next week and go through the month.
A meeting with Oak Hill Cal Ripken is planned for the end of the month.

Softball: After a lengthy discussion, a motion was made and seconded to accept the ASA U14 Softball team under the recreation department.

Vote: Unanimous

Basketball:
1. After a lengthy discussion concerning a parent involved with the third & fourth grade boys team and having heard all matters concerning this issue it was decided that an Executive Session would be held to discuss any decisions that may be needed.

A motion was made to enter into Executive Session at 8:02pm.
Vote: Unanimous.

Executive Session was adjourned at 8:38pm.

A motion was made and seconded that the parent involved in the situation(s) with the 3rd & 4th grade boys basketball team be reprimanded and asked not to attend the final day of basketball games this coming Saturday.

Vote: Unanimous.

2. Most games are done. Trophies and certificates have been given to coaches. $1,145 profit was made from the raffle. Gift certificates will be given to the Chaputs for their generous volunteering.

Recreation Budget: A budget was revised and accepted to hand in to the Selectmen.

Old Business:
A motion was made and seconded to have two scholarships; one for a senior boy and one for a senior girl for $200 each.

A motion was made and seconded, after lengthy discussion to require that all parents read and sign the code of conduct for each sport each season.

Vote: Unanimous

New Business:
